PoolSpace does not store or hold funds. Rent and shared expense payments are securely processed by Stripe, and Stripe pays available connected-account balances to the verified recipient’s bank account.

Before payouts are enabled, the selected rent recipient securely verifies their identity and bank details through Stripe.

Before paying, housemates can see the collection details, amount due, and who manages the rent or expense collection.

PoolSpace is a technology platform for shared-household rent coordination, including fair rent splits, monthly rent collection, shared expense collection, and paid-status tracking.
PoolSpace does not provide banking, savings, lending, investment, escrow, or interest-bearing products. Payments are collected only for the rent or household expense purpose described by the organizer.
PoolSpace does not hold customer funds. Rent payments, shared expense payments, and payouts are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor.
PoolSpace facilitates rent and expense coordination, including recurring cycles, reminders, paid-status tracking, and scheduled future amount changes, but Stripe controls payout timing according to the connected account’s payout schedule.
² Payments & Payouts
All rent and shared expense payments are processed securely by Stripe.
Before rent payouts are enabled, the designated payout recipient must complete identity verification and securely provide bank account details directly through Stripe.
Payments are processed through the selected connected Stripe account as housemates pay. The connected account country and currency determine the currency used for collections.
A rent cycle, due date, or collection close date controls when payments are due or stop; it does not by itself initiate a separate PoolSpace payout.
For recurring rent collections, scheduled amount changes apply from the selected future cycle onward and do not rewrite past payment history.
PoolSpace does not:
- Store funds
- Maintain wallet balances
- Manually process payouts
- Override Stripe’s verification or compliance decisions
Stripe may delay, pause, or decline transactions or payouts where required to comply with legal, regulatory, or fraud-prevention obligations.
³ Payer Responsibility & Risk Notice
By paying rent or shared expenses through PoolSpace, payers acknowledge that:
- Payments are made for the rent or household expense collection shown at checkout.
- They have reviewed the collection details, amount, recipient, and due date prior to payment.
- Payments are generally non-refundable once processed, subject to Stripe’s payment dispute processes.
- PoolSpace is not responsible for how funds are used after payout.
PoolSpace is not liable for losses resulting from:
- Incorrect rent, household expense, or recipient information
- Misrepresentation by a collection organizer
- Payment disputes initiated through card networks
- Actions taken by Stripe in compliance with applicable laws
Payers may dispute card payments directly with their card issuer in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws.
⁴ Fees
PoolSpace does not charge any service fees. Only standard payment processing fees charged by Stripe apply. All applicable fees are clearly displayed before a rent or expense payment is completed.

PoolSpace does not provide financial, legal, tax, tenancy, or investment advice. Users are responsible for assessing whether creating or paying a rent or household expense collection is appropriate for their circumstances and should seek independent professional advice where necessary.
⁶ Regulatory Status
PoolSpace is not a bank, money transmitter, or financial institution.
Payment processing, identity verification, and payout services are provided by Stripe, a licensed payment services provider operating in accordance with applicable U.S. laws and regulations.
